Nursery care (Newborns to 3yr olds)

The nursery is staffed on Sunday mornings from 9:45am to 11:15am.  The nursery supervisor is a paid position.

 

Children on Sunday morning

Children attend the regular church service until they are dismissed to their classes following the children's message "Time for Children".

 

Sunday School

Our program is "GOD'S GARDEN - Rooted in God's love; Christ helps us grow; we are tended by the Spirit". It uses a rotational Sunday School format, teaching the Bible stories that everyone should know!

God’s Garden

 

Classes are divided into:

3 year olds / preschoolers

K - 1st grade

2nd - 3rd grade

4th - 5th grade

Pre-confirmation: 6th - 7th grade

 

Confirmation: 8th graders (or older) attend the church service on Sunday and a class is held during the week.  (Active membership at St. John is not required to participate, all are welcome).

 

Vacation Bible School

Every summer, St. John hosts a VBS for one week.  Please call the church office for dates and times.

 

Christmas Pageant

All Sunday School students are invited and encouraged to participate in a Christmas Pageant involving music and drama.

 

Presentation of Bibles

Bibles are given each spring to all students completing second grade, and older children new to our church.  All students are encouraged to bring their Bibles to church to be used in their studies.

 

Mission Projects

 

Weekly food offerings are collected for the local food pantry, Loaves and Fishes.  The children also participate in supporting the Heifer International Project during the Lenten season.

 

Helping Hands Fellowship Group

 

Our 3rd - 5th graders are invited to become members of this fellowship group which meets every 3rd Wednesday evening of the month from 5:30pm to 6:45pm (with other outings scheduled throughout the year).

 

Big Kids Choir

 

This choir is open to all interested children and youth in our church.  Rehearsal takes place at 9:15 on Sunday mornings.  Children sing regularly as a group in the worship service and solo opportunities are provided.
